Braga, Braca Augusta - ancient Roman city, the oldest Portuguese city and capital of religion in Portugal, where we visit the XI century cathedral and the impressive Sanctuary of Bom Jesus, located on the hills of the city.

The tour will start with a visit to Portugal´s birthplace as a nation - Guimarães. The city has preserved a medieval atmosphere and is considered as a World Heritage Site. We will visit the imposing 10th century castle and the majestic Dukes of Bragança Palace. Afterwards, the historical Santa Maria Road will lead you to the charming square in the heart of the old town, Largo da Oliveira. After a relaxing lunch break included, we head to Braga, the oldest Portuguese city and religious capital of Portugal. For centuries the city has been an archiepiscopal seat and pilgrimage site. We will go to the Sé, the 11 th century cathedral, following by a visit to Bom Jesus Sanctuary, located in one of the city hills.

Travel back in time on this 4-hour guided tour of the historical cradle of the Portuguese nation, the city of Guimarães. This tour, along with a maximum of 8 people, will visit the castle, the magnificent Ducal Palace, and the city's historical center with its 17th and 18th century buildings. Be transported back to a medieval age to Portugal's beginnings in the birthplace of it's first king.

After a morning or afternoon pickup from your centrally located Porto accommodation, the tour will head to the historical city of Guimarães, where you will discover the stories behind the foundations of Portugal.

Arriving in the city of Guimarães, start with a visit to the imposing 10th century castle where the first king of Portugal, Afonso I, was born. Then, visit the Colina Real and see the Church of São Miguel do Castelo, a Romanesque chapel where, according to the legend, the first king was baptized.

Finally, you'll also get to visit the 15th century Palace of Bragança Dukes, built by Afonso de Bragança, King John's first illegitimate son, to live with is wife, D. Constança de Noronha.

The tour will end by visiting Guimarães' magical historical center where you'll be able to admire the 17th and 18th century buildings before heading back to Porto, arriving by early afternoon, or early evening (depending on option chosen).
