Departure from your hotel at 09:00, Cristo Rei, Palmela Castel, Lunch at Qta. Dna. Isilda, Bacalhoa Palace and wine taste.

We will visit the National Sanctuary of Cristo Rei, located at an altitude of 113 meters above the level of the Tagus River, surmounted by the statue of the Holy Redeemer with open arms facing the city of Lisbon, this monument being the best viewpoint overlooking the city of Lisbon, offering a wide view over the Capital and the 25 de Abril Bridge, we will then go to the Castle of Palmela where to the south one can observe the city of Setubal, the estuary of the Sado and Troia, to the west the green of Arrábida and to the north are the Tagus, Lisbon and the Serra de Sintra, our gaze is lost as far as the eye can see. It has Arab origin, with the first fortification built around the 9th century, but archaeologists point to human presence in the place since the Neolithic. Within the walls we find the ruins of the Church of Santa Maria with renaissance and gothic notes. And to enjoy an excellent lunch at Quinta da Dona Isilda in Palmela, a restaurant with a full buffet, always full of the best regional delicacies, and finally visit the Pálacio and Quinta da Baclhoa, where we can see the first tile dated from Portugal, this space is inserted in a singular landscape with a historical framework that dates from the beginning of the fourteenth century. The architecture and decoration of the Palace gardens show influences from the Portuguese discoveries, memories of its first owners inspired by the travels through Europe, Africa and the East, thus contributing to the transformation of this space into a unique jewel where we will finish with a delicious wines.

Tour the Arrábida National Nature Park by state-of-the-art electric bikes, enjoying its exceptional sceneries and magnificent views over the Atlantic Ocean. It is also possible to swim in its crystal clear water. After riding along the ridge of the mountain, you will taste some fresh fish along the coast.

The meeting point is in downtown Lisbon in front of the statue in Commerce Square (Praça do Comercio), which is connected to the metro blue line (Terreiro do Paço).

Our guide will briefly introduce the itinerary and the group. Electric bikes will be explained and tested too. Then,  from the naval station close to the Commerce Square, we will board one of the traditional ferries from Lisbon to Cacilheiro and cross the Tagus River to Barreiro. In Barreiro, a train will take us and our bicycles comfortably to Palmela in approximately 40 minutes. In Palmela, we will cycle to the Castle.

The Castle of Palmela is rich in history. In this zone, archaeological findings confirm human occupation from the neolithic period (310 AC). The earliest fortifications were built by the Muslims around the 9th century. Don Afonso Henriques, the first Portuguese King, saw the Muslims abandon Palmela after the conquest of Lisbon in 1147.  The second Portuguese King Don Sancho 1st had the fortress repaired and bestowed it to the Order of Santiago. From the hill, we can see the Rivers Sado and Tagus. If the day is clear, Lisbon and the Mountain range of Sintra are visible as well. In Palmela,  we will visit some archeological sites and have a coffee break.

When leaving the Castle of Palmela, we will have the opportunity to contemplate the beautiful Valley of the Barris, flanked by the mountainous forests of São Luís, Laurel and Arrábida. It seems like a dream, but the road literally 'snakes' through this Valley.

We will carry on along the less-frequented road of the Barris Valley, first on asphalt, then off beaten path between vineyards and sheep pasture.

Arriving in the town of Nogueira de Azeitão, according to the group's wishes, we can rest and  taste the region's famous Muscatel wine, tarts and buttery cheese. We can also drink the water that flows from the Fountain of the Astonished (18th century). According to the legend: "whoever drinks this water will remain bound forever to Azeitão".

Now comes the time to burn some calories by cycling up the Arrábida Nature Park. As we go up, sights over the blue sea are of an indescribable beauty. Well above, we will see the Troia peninsula nestled between the Sado estuary and the unspoilt beaches bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. We will also have a glimpse of the Arrábida Convent built in the 16th century.

Finally, in the town of Setubal, we will recover our strength and share our impressions around a table savoring some fresh fish.

We will return to Lisbon by train from Setubal.

The Serra da Arrábida Natural Park, amidst the deep blue sea and the green of the hills, is a breath-taking place.
Situated by the sea, the park offers some of the most stunning coastal scenery in the Lisbon area. The highest point is in the Serra do Risco, a magnificent cliff 380m high. A good way of getting to know this pristine place, featuring pure Mediterranean vegetation, is this private tour.
Like a wall of green sticking out over the Atlantic, the hills offer shelter to small coves of white sand where, despite being on the edge of the ocean, the sea is almost free of waves.  Around this natural park you'll also have the opportunity to visit Sesimbra, Setúbal and Azeitão.

Pick-up at your accommodation and drive towards South bank through Ponte 25 de Abril.  Stop at the Cristo Rei monument for enjoying the beautiful view of Lisbon.  Departure towards Sesimbra to visit Cabo Espichel Sanctuary and Sesimbra Castle.  Drive along the coastline and beach shore at Arrábida hills towards Setúbal.  Lunch in Setúbal at a typical Portuguese restaurant. Departure towards Azeitão villages to visit a traditional tile factory. See José Maria da Fonseca vineyards and cellars with an optional wine tasting (own expense), or Quinta da Bacalhoa vineyards and cellars with optional wine tasting (own expense). Tasting of traditional pastry at O Cego (subject to availability).  Return to Lisbon through Vasco da Gama bridge. Alterations of the route are accepted.
This is a full-day trip usually starting between 8:00am and 9:00am visiting breath-taking landscapes and the uniqueness of the Setúbal and Arrábida regions.
